Nursery Information

First week at nursery

You are more than welcome to ring the nursery on 020 8300 9453 as many times as you like to see how your child is getting on throughout the day. This will be supported with pictures on Tapestry to put your mind at ease.

Daily requirements

  • Please bring with you on your child’s first day, a bag with spare clothes in, a pot of nappy cream and teething gel (if relevant), these must be labelled where possible.
  • Please NO draw string bags, this is for health and safety reasons.
  • If your child has a comforter, please ensure this is labelled.
  • Please DO NOT bring toys into nursery, these can get lost or damaged and this cause a lot of upset.

Medication

The nursery does administer Calpol and anti-biotics but there must be clear written permission in place. You will be asked to complete a medication form when you drop your child off at nursery, this form will state the name of the medication, the dosage and the time(s) it is to be administered. You will also be asked when your child last had any kind of medication.

If your child develops a temperature at nursery, we will always contact you and try and get the temperature down by natural means. If this does not bring the temperature down, then we will contact you again to obtain verbal permission to administer Calpol and then ask for you to collect as soon as possible.

Fees

You are required to make payment for your child’s fees on the 1st of every month. We accept all childcare vouchers, Government vouchers, cash or bank transfers. Please use your child’s name as a reference so the payment can be credited to your account straight away. If you are using vouchers or any other kind of funding to pay your child’s fees, you are still liable for the full fee amount until these have been received.

If you require an additional day as a one off, this payment must be received in full before your child attends that extra day.

Communication

There are several ways we communicate with our parent’s, the main way is via Parentmail. Your account will be set up during your first week and we use this to inform you of special events, messages and reminders. We will also put up all special events on our nursery door for you to see as well. All the years events are booked in advance, the full year will be arranged in the January.

Illnesses and exclusion periods

In your induction pack you will receive information about the nursery’s illnesses and exclusion policy. This is to be respected without fail to avoid illnesses spreading further around the nursery.

If you ask the nursery to administer Calpol to your child every 4 hours during a day, please ask yourself if they should really be in a nursery environment.

Open door policy

Having a fantastic partnership with our parents is the only way to ensure that the best possible care can be provided for your child. The nursery has an open-door policy which means an appointment is not needed in order to talk to us about your child’s welfare and development or even a concern.

30 hours funding

The Government has set up a 30 hours funding offer from September 2017, 15 hours extra on top of the 15 hours 3 and 4 year olds already receive. The extended free childcare entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds will provide eligible working parents with up to 30 hours of free childcare per week during term time or for a lesser number of hours for up to 52 weeks of the year, 1140 hours per year.

The 1140 free hours per year can be spread over 52 weeks and this is known as a stretched offer, this will result in you being able to claim 21.9 hours a week over the year.
