Our nursery encourages healthy eating and provide a two week ongoing menu. The meals that are cooked on site are nutritious and balanced and all children are encouraged to try them unless the staff are informed otherwise.
All staff that deal with the preparation of food hold food hygiene certificates and have had the appropriate training. Our nursery encourages all parents/carers to contribute to the menus and give suggestions to what they would like their child to eat at the nursery (within reason).
We work alongside an Early Years Nutrition Partnership's Registered Nutritionist, benefitting from their expertise and the tailored support they provide to our staff and the children in our care. The nursery has been awarded with an accreditation certificate and have worked hard to create a consistent approach to healthy eating.
The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum is implemented into each of the room’s routines on a daily basis. This curriculum encourages children to learn through their play and also gives each and every child the opportunity to explore and experience planned and spontaneous activities within the nursery setting. The Early Years Foundation Stage starts from birth and continues up until the end of their reception year at school. Records will be kept of each child’s development and progress, this will be shared on a daily basis with the parents/carer.
We believe that it is essential for parents/carers/staff to work together and to communicate regularly to ensure each and every child receives the best possible care at all times. If relationships are formed from the start the results will have a positive impact on your child’s development, not only from the time they start nursery but this will also carry on throughout their school education.
It is very important to us that we meet not only the children’s needs and requirements but also the parents/carers. The nursery understands that all families are different and come from different backgrounds but every effort will be made to welcome you into the nursery and your needs met at all times. As much as we respect and meet parents/carers needs, in return we do ask parents/carers to ensure they meet the nursery’s policies and procedures at all times.
All the staff at our nursery are chosen with great care, they have been selected on their individual experiences, motivation, qualifications and professionalism. All staff must undergo a full enhanced DBS check when they join the nursery and these are updated throughout their time at the nursery.
Job offers are subject to clear DBS’s and references. Qualified staff must either hold a NVQ 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or an equivalent qualification. Any trainee staff that are employed by the nursery must be willing to commit to completing these courses.
To ensure that the nursery is providing the highest standards of care at all times all staff are encouraged to attend short courses, especially courses in First Aid, Safeguarding Children, Prevent Behaviour Management, Health & Safety and The Early Years Foundation Stage. Not only does sending staff on these courses help to widen and strengthen their knowledge but it also enables the nursery to use the most up to date information when caring for each and every child.
